Job Description Job Description About the Role: The Mechanic Helper plays a crucial supporting role within the mining, quarrying, and oil and gas extraction industries by assisting skilled mechanics in maintaining, repairing, and servicing heavy machinery and equipment. This position ensures that all mechanical operations run smoothly and efficiently, minimizing downtime and enhancing productivity on-site. The role involves hands-on work in challenging environments, requiring attention to safety protocols and the ability to work collaboratively with a team. The Mechanic Helper will gain valuable experience by learning technical skills and understanding the operational requirements of complex machinery. Ultimately, this role contributes directly to the operational success and safety of extraction activities in the Roanoke area. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Basic understanding of mechanical systems and tools. Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision. Physical capability to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy objects and working in outdoor environments. Willingness to adhere to strict safety standards and protocols. Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in a mechanical or industrial support role, preferably within mining, quarrying, or oil and gas sectors. Basic certification in mechanical maintenance or related technical training. Familiarity with heavy machinery used in extraction industries. Valid driver’s license and ability to operate site vehicles or equipment. Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment. Responsibilities: Assist mechanics in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of heavy equipment and machinery used in mining and extraction operations. Prepare and organize tools, parts, and materials needed for mechanical repairs and routine maintenance tasks. Clean and maintain equipment, work areas, and tools to ensure a safe and efficient working environment. Follow safety guidelines and protocols to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with industry regulations. Support the documentation of maintenance activities, including logging repairs and parts usage. Transport equipment and materials to and from work sites as directed by senior mechanics. Learn and apply basic mechanical skills under supervision to progressively take on more complex tasks. Skills: The required skills enable the Mechanic Helper to effectively assist in the maintenance and repair of heavy machinery by understanding basic mechanical concepts and safely handling tools and equipment. Physical stamina and manual dexterity are essential for performing labor-intensive tasks and working in diverse environmental conditions. Preferred skills such as prior mechanical experience and technical training enhance the ability to learn quickly and contribute more independently over time. Communication skills facilitate clear understanding of instructions and collaboration with mechanics and other team members. Together, these skills ensure that the Mechanic Helper supports operational efficiency and safety in a demanding industrial setting. 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM Monday- Friday
