POSITION SUMMARY:
The Controls Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing optimal, cost-effective design, maintenance and troubleshooting processes and methods on plant facilities and production equipment in accordance with electrical codes, safety requirements, and good industrial practices.
PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Provide troubleshooting support when necessary to restore plant equipment to operation.


  • Provide technical support & education to plant employees executing electrical or controls work.


  • Design, develop and test electrical and control hardware, software, machinery and equipment to support plant production.


  • Manage all aspects of assigned engineering projects including design, planning, budgets, procurement & contractor management.


  • Create preventative maintenance systems to sustain performance of plant equipment.


  • Support production, quality, safety and lean initiatives to improve OEE and overall facility performance


  • Leads the plant's Arc flash program


  • Perform all other duties as assigned


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


    • Bachelor Science in Electrical or Controls Engineering or equivalent experience.


    • Minimum of 5 years industrial experience in an electrical or controls engineering role.


    • Minimum of 3 years industrial experience in electrical and/or controls troubleshooting.


    • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Kaizens (Continuous Improvement)


    • Proficient controls and drives experience including PLC programming, ladder logic, machine I/O, AC drives, DC drives and servo drives.


    • Proficient computer skills required including Microsoft Office Suite,


    • Travel 10-15%


      PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


      • Experience with screw machines.


      • Familiarity with the plumbing industry and/or consumer goods


      • Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs & software


      • Experience with Control Techniques and Siemens motors and drives.

        • Demonstrated successful ability to organize and prioritize work to ensure timely deadlines


        • Ability to function at a high level of effectiveness, flexibility, independence and initiative without daily interaction with management


        • Excellent problem solving and analysis skills


        • Write/modify ladder logic, program/autotune motor drivers, identify/procure replacements for obsolete electrical components
