Job Description Summary The Assistant Director of Residential Conduct is a full-time, twelve-month, exempt position reporting to the Associate Director of Residence Life. The Assistant Director of Residential Conduct works closely with other professionals in the administration and management of a comprehensive residence life and housing program that serves 4000 on-campus students. Has responsibility for promoting a sense of community and an environment for personal growth and responsibility in the residence halls through general administration, oversight and management of departmental initiatives related to residential student conduct and case management and by coordinating, implementing and evaluating Residence Life Initiatives. Job Description Essential Functions: Student Conduct - 40% Serves as the primary administrator for residential conduct under the guidance of the Associate Director of Residence Life. Reviews all incident reports, adjudicates cases, generates and routes conduct cases to necessary hearing officer(s) through student conduct database (Maxient). Track complete and incomplete sanctions, and send notification to students, parents/guardians, and appropriate staff regarding fines and student conduct holds. Coordinate, in collaboration with campus partners, logistics of educational sanctions for student conduct cases and communicate with relevant campus partners. Through active and engaging campus partnerships, work to implement and support comprehensive education initiatives that mitigate harm in the residential community, including innovative, community-based restorative practices, bystander intervention, alcohol and drug education, and suicide prevention and awareness. Assist with crisis intervention, stabilize situations, investigate and resolve matters of significance that deal with student concerns and coordinate the notification of the appropriate college officials/referral agencies in accordance with university policies, guidelines and professional judgment. Administer assessments and compile data and analytics for case management reporting. Serve university hearing and investigation boards. Assessment - 20% Work collaboratively with appropriate staff to coordinate various assessment and research related initiatives. Actively utilize assessment data to identify improvement opportunities, suggest strategies to enhance the student experience, inform departmental goals and guide ongoing program development appropriately. Supervision and Instruction-20% In conjunction with the Office of the Dean of Students and Associate Director of Residence Life, engage in the planning and implementation of residential staff training and development related to conduct for professional and paraprofessional staff. Supervise, train, and evaluate job performance of 2-3 full-time, live-in, master's level Community Directors who provide oversight to master's seeking Graduate Hall Directors. Serve as an instructor for CNS 353 - Resident Adviser for credit course Administrative-20% Develop long-range strategic planning in conjunction with the appropriate staff, for all residential conduct and wellbeing related processes Serves on a variety of committees, projects, and programs within the RLH office and University community. Fulfill central office duty on a rotating basis as assigned during the academic year and weekly duty during the summer months. Attend all Residence Life and Housing Central Office meetings as scheduled. Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge of best practices in higher education Student Conduct. Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Demonstrated ability in program development, management and assessment knowledge and skills. Demonstrated ability in staff supervision and development. Demonstrated ability in student conduct adjudication. Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of concepts of college student development. Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse campus community and foster inclusivity pertaining to diversity education. Experience in planning and implementing meaningful learning experiences with faculty and students. Ability to communicate with a variety of constituents, both verbally and in writing. Ability to articulate the role that residence halls play in supporting retention and the overall academic mission of the University. Ability to problem solve, critically think and analyze complex issues while effectively planning and organizing work. Ability to organize workflow and coordinate projects within office and with other departments. Ability to interpret policy and procedures established within the Office of Residence Life and Housing. Ability to work weekends and evenings as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Master's Degree with concentration in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Facilities Management, or related field A minimum of two to four years of full-time experience working in Housing and Residential Programs (Residence Life), Student Activities or other position working closely with students in a university setting Preferred Qualifications: Two years of previous graduate or professional supervisory experience in a university Housing and Residence Life program preferred.
