JOB SUMMARY: Provides quality laboratory service to medical
providers in a customer-service-oriented environment. Performs
various technical duties for routine patient visits by obtaining
and processing blood/urine specimens for patients and distributing
the results to in-house providers.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree with two years' laboratory
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: Certification as a
Medical Technologist (ASCP or AMT).
- Assures accurate and timely performance of patient procedures
and/or issuance of blood products.
- Assures accurate and timely performance of results reporting,
QC and QA procedures according to departmental policy.
- Follows proper safety and identification procedures when
dealing with patients and/or specimens under any circumstance or
- Improves work skills through self-study and continuing
- Protects self, coworkers and facility by following approved
policies and procedures to prevent the spread of bloodborne and/or
- Exhibits and promotes the professional image of laboratories in
accordance with hospital, department, and professional society
philosophies, goals and standards of laboratory testing.

age specific guidelines for school age, adolescents, early adults,
middle adults and/or late adults.
- Contributes to the smooth and efficient operation of the
section and department.
- Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a
cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills,
interpersonal relationships and team building.
- Performs various procedures as defined in procedure
