law.DescriptionThis full-time position within the Area Agency on
Aging will develop programs and creative strategies to address
needs of older adults and their caregivers. The individual will
work with stakeholders, participants, funded partners, community
service providers, health care professionals, and volunteers to
build coalitions and community groups to plan and develop programs
which will promote health services for older adults. Position
includes grant writing and the managing and administration of
grants; training participants in evidence based programs,
caregivers, volunteers, contract partners, and train the trainer
opportunities; and expanding infrastructure through outreach,
advocacy, and promotional activities. Work also includes
application of knowledge of Medicare and related processes for
billing. The position will also be responsible for implementing and
tracking program(s) progress and assessing the need for expansion
and effectiveness of existing services; providing assistance to
local planning committees, agencies, and community groups;
networking and building coalitions with stakeholders; creating
marketing tools; promoting legislative changes affecting older
adults and caregivers; engaging in public speaking opportunities;
facilitating and providing leadership; and providing technical
assistance. Job posting will remain open until filled.POSITION
REQUIREMENTS: The Health Promotion Coordinator position requires
knowledge of the aging process, trends, needs, and issues for older
adults related to health, caregiving, employment, and finance.This
position requires knowledge of Medicare and related processes for
billing. Employee must be able to work independently, multi-task,
and problem-solve. Individual must possess excellent skills in
problem solving, decision making, interpersonal communication,
verbal and written communication, critical thinking, and analytical
skills. One must have the ability to think and plan strategically,
as well as be innovative.Employee must possess the talent to
maintain composure and work with diverse groups on a daily
basis.Employee must have skill in establishing and sustaining
effective working relationships while working both independently
and with a team.Experience in facilitating and training individuals
with complex community issues is desired.A Master's degree in
public administration, health promotion, public health, business,
or closely related field is required, with minimum five (5) years'
experience in human services and health related programs. An
equivalent amount of education and experience sufficient to provide
the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Individual should have working knowledge of modern office
practices, procedures, equipment, and various computer products,
including Microsoft programs.Strong organizational skills, superb
communication, verbal and written, as required to interact with a
variety of customers including coworkers, general public, elected
officials, healthcare professionals and other organization
representatives.Position requires the ability to resolve problem
situations on own accord and be resourceful in gathering and giving
program information in a diplomatic manner. Special requirements
include the possession of a valid NC driver license. Travel
throughout 12-county region is required.Other travel may be
required on occasion. Successful candidate must pass organization's
pre-employment drug screen and background screening process.
