Wake Forest Health NetworkUrgent Care - Clemmonsseeks aPhysician Assistantto join their growing practice.Must have aminimum of 1 year of relevant experience in Urgent Care / Emergency Department / Family Medicine and experiencewith pediatric patients.This is a great opportunity for a Physician Assistant who wants a comprehensive outpatient clinicincluding all ages treatingminor burns or injuries, sprains and strains, coughs, colds and sore throats, allergic reactions (non-life threatening), rash or other skin irritations, broken bones and more.
JOB SUMMARY:The Physician Assistant (PA) is responsible for coordinating the planning, implementation, and ongoing monitoring and evaluation of his/her designated patient population. As an advanced practice practitioner, the PA is responsible for identifying and implementing opportunities to support and improve the quality of care provided to assigned patients across the continuum of care. The PA utilizes age-specific medical knowledge, specialty expertise, and management principles to ensure timely, appropriate and cost effective care in accordance with Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center mission and values, policies/procedures, and internal/external regulations. Care is based on patient variables (i.e., age, developmental level and cognitive ability). Credentialed physician assistants, with the supervision of a physician licensed by the North Carolina Medical Board are authorized to perform the following procedures at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center Community Physicians: Obtain and record patient medical history Perform physical examinations Order medications, tests and treatments within the guidelines specified by the North Carolina Medical Board and Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center-Community Physicians and his/her written agreement with the supervising physician Perform office-based procedures as appropriate for training and practice setting.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:Bachelor's Degree Master's Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program required BCLS required Education and/or equivalent experience as a PA.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION:Current licensure as a Physician Assistant by the North Carolina Medical Board Credentialed by Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center Active certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Utilizes advanced knowledge and skills to provide selected medical procedures for assigned patient population. Performs complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in diagnosing medical and surgical problems and prescribing necessary treatment and service for quality patient care; record data and conclusions for review by the physician as stated in the scope of services/supervisory arrangements.
  • Communicates and collaborates with appropriate members of the health care team, including patients, and their families.
  • Works to improve the quality of care provided to patients. Provides outpatient care services under indirect physician supervision such as complete physical exam, wound suturing, and dressing changes; monitor progress of patients, maintain a record of the patient's progress, and consult with supervising physician when patients progress does not meet anticipated and/or predetermined criteria.
  • Ensures the continuous quality of professional services by maintaining updated knowledge and skills.
  • Maintains appropriate on-site documentation at every practice location relating to physician assistant practice as required by the North Carolina Medical Board including but not limited to, scope of services, supervisory agreement, prescribing instructions, CME documentation and back-up supervising physician list.
