Registered Nurse (RN) | Progressive Care Unit Location: Winston Salem, NC Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $1,894 per week Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position Job Title: RN - PCU Profession: RN Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in Cardiology License: Required licensure Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Cardiac rhythm interpretation; Cardiac post-procedural experience; Ability to titrate various medications Description: RN - PCU position available. The facility is a major medical center with a Level 1 Trauma designation. This is a teaching hospital and includes a chest pain center and stroke center. The unit comprises 28 beds and has an average census of 26 patients. Common patient types and diagnoses include Acute Coronary Syndrome, Heart Failure, NSTEMI/STEMI, Chest Pain, post cardiac catheterizations, post electrophysiology procedures, arrhythmia management, Vascular Peripheral Artery Disease, AAA repair, and DVT/PE. Patient ratios are 1 RN to 4-5 patients. Required skills include cardiac rhythm interpretation and cardiac post-procedural experience. RNs must be comfortable titrating drip medications such as Argatroban, Digoxin, Diltiazem, Dobutamine, Dofetilide, Dopamine, Esmolol, Lasix, Insulin, Labetalol, Lidocaine, Milrinone, Nicardipine, Nitroglycerin, Sotalol, and Tirofiban. Support within the department includes Certified Nursing Assistants for vital signs and blood glucose checks, receptionists, and charge nurses who may or may not have patient assignments. Phlebotomy services are available. Respiratory Therapy is available 24/7. Hospitalist and intensivist coverage is also available 24/7. Nurses are responsible for telemetry monitoring and verifying strips once per shift. Floating may occur within the cardiology division first, then to any med-surg unit.
