Job Description:
UNC Health / North Carolina Pain Management seeks an experienced
Pain Management Physician employed through UNC Health Rex. North
Carolina Pain Management is a part of The North Carolina
Neuroscience and Spine Center and the Department of Medicine at UNC
Health Rex. https://www.ncneurospine.com The North Carolina
Neuroscience & Spine Center provides specialized care for
individuals with spine-related conditions and back pain , tailoring
treatment solutions to suit each patient's unique needs. Our pain
management physicians work as integral members of our
multidisciplinary spine care team , utilizing interventional
procedures and conservative treatments to address chronic back
pain, radiculopathy, spinal stenosis, and other spine-related pain
conditions . While our primary focus is spine and back pain
management, our pain physicians also treat a full spectrum of
pain-related conditions affecting other body regions. We are
committed to exploring all available treatment modalities,
collaborating closely with neurosurgeons, physical therapists, and
other specialists to devise comprehensive, patient-centered care
strategies that deliver optimal outcomes and improve quality of
life. The position is mostly outpatient but does have some
inpatient consults. Inpatient consults average around 5-7 per week.
Job Responsibilities • Discuss medical history with patients to
acquire knowledge of healthcare practices. • Conduct comprehensive
patient assessments to diagnose pain conditions. • Create and
discuss a pain management treatment plan with patients. • Treat
patients by employing interventional techniques such as injections
and/or other devices. • Prescribe medications, if applicable. •
Refer patients for laboratory and diagnostic tests. Assess medical
results. • Educate patients on pain management and lifestyle
changes. • Communicate pertinent medical records to appropriate
specialists as needed. Required Skills and Qualifications • Strong
knowledge of pain mechanisms and pharmacology. • Proficient in
interventional pain procedures, joint injections, nerve blocks, and
epidural injections. • Working knowledge of medical equipment such
as C-Arm. • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills. •
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work
effectively in a multidisciplinary care team in a clinic setting. •
Strong organizational and time management skills. • Patience,
compassion, and the ability to empathize with patients in pain. •
Passionate about pain management and dedicated to providing
high-quality and safe patient care. Education & Experience
Requirements • A medical degree from an accredited institution. •
Valid state medical license. • Board certification in Pain
Management. • Dual board certification – Pain Management and
Anesthesia(preferred) • Experience with a wide range of pain

Carolina Medical License, DEA License, BLS/ACLS certification
preferred. Board certified in Pain Management and Anesthesia
