Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 04/13/2026 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PCU Job Details: • Work 12-hour night shifts • 36 hours per week available • 13-week assignment length • Patient ratios: 1:4-5 (mixed acuity unit with PCU and MS/Tele patients), up to 1:6 in extreme situations • Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts in 6 weeks but staffing needs may require more • Float requirement: required to float to like units • Must pass EKG testing prior to start • 24 hours of unit orientation required • 2 years of nursing experience required • First-time travelers accepted • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS • Preferred certification: NIHSS • Skills required: IV start, vents, telemetry, CPAP/BiPAP, interpretation/management of dysrhythmias • Care for COPD, pneumonia, respiratory distress, COVID-19, flu, and pulmonary embolism patients • Work with special equipment including chest tubes, ventilators, trachs, BiPAP/CPAP • Manage drips: Dopamine, Cardizem, Heparin • Use systems: Pyxis, EPIC, SBAR • Scrubs not provided: white or navy blue required • RTO policy: 7 days maximum allowed, must work 2 out of 3 major holidays • Cannot work more than 5 days in a row or more than 60 hours per week • 8-10 hours of non-billable modules required Facility: This healthcare organization operates a 48-bed progressive care unit that serves as a high-acuity medical-surgical unit with specialized resources to support complex patient care.
