This opportunity is for an experienced Registered Nurse skilled in Stepdown or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing, specializing in the care of intermediate-level patients. The role is based in Winston-Salem, NC, in a well-established 351-bed teaching hospital recognized for its Chest Pain and Stroke Centers. Key Qualifications and Experience: Minimum of 1 year RN experience in a PCU or stepdown setting Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications are mandatory Proficient in managing intermediate patients with diagnoses such as stroke, heart failure, TIA, sepsis, syncope, AKI, and chest pain Skilled in managing and titrating hemodynamic drips including Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, Neo, Nitro, and Amio Strong telemetry rhythm analysis capabilities with cardiac surveillance support Familiar with advanced patient care equipment and technology, including Encompass/EPIC EMR, Baxter IV pumps transitioning to Alaris, Philips MX-40 monitors, and Omnicello medication dispensing Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive care to an average daily census of 35 patients in a 36-bed IMC stroke unit Detect and escalate neurological changes promptly using NIHSS protocols Collaborate with CNAs and other support staff for patient ADLs, mobility, feeding, and vital monitoring duties Work alongside a multi-disciplinary team including charge nurses, phlebotomists, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists available 24/7 Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols and effective communication within the unit Schedule: Contract position (specific duration to be discussed upon application) Facility and Unit Insights:Located in the vibrant city of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, this hospital combines advanced medical technology with a patient-centered approach.
