Center, Bojangles Entertainment Complex, NASCAR Hall of Fame,
Charlotte Film Commission, Visit Charlotte and Visitor Info
Centers. Job Summary Summer Youth Counselor or
Counselor-in-Training serves as youth leaders working to support
NASCAR Hall of Fame summer camp programs. Teens (14-17) work under
the supervision of the Camp Manager and Camp Coordinators to assist
with greeting campers, supporting program activities, co-leading
games and crafts and facilitating breaks, including snack time.
Youth counselors receive training program activities, safety
procedures, and a babysitter course that includes first aid
response. The Summer Youth Counselors are expected to adhere to the
same code of conduct and policies as regular program staff and
actively participate in all aspects of the day camp operations. The
position runs from June 16 to August 1, with camp hours scheduled
Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Counselors typically
work 3–4 days per week for up to six weeks. There is a scheduled
break from June 30 to July 4, and an additional week off for summer
vacation can be arranged, by request. Job Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties Assist counselors in everyday camp functions.
Such as leading games, providing ideas for arts and crafts, tending
to camper needs, communicating with other camp staff, setting up
activities, etc. Aid children in their learning by modeling good
behavior. Aid in managing campers’ belongings to prevent loss or
confusion. Assist head counselors in guiding children to scheduled
activities and designated meal areas. Contribute ideas to improve
the program. Report any unsafe actions by children or other CITs to
the Camp Coordinator. Support camp operations by helping with waste
disposal and keeping activity spaces clean. Consistently deliver
the best in customer service. Model and be accountable ensuring
that customers are always put first by living the CRVA Service
Philosophy to deliver memorable customer experiences Champion
CRVA’s mission, vision and core values and comply with
organizations policies and procedures. Scope of Responsibility
Assist Camp Counselors with daily activities, including crafts,
games, and group programs. Prioritize camper engagement to create a
fun, inclusive, and supportive environment. Be punctual and
actively participate in all scheduled camp activities. Adhere to
all camp rules, policies, and procedures at all times. Treat all
campers fairly and equally—no favoritism. Work cooperatively with
head counselors, peers, and campers to ensure smooth operations.
Demonstrate enthusiasm and maintain a positive attitude throughout
the camp day. Supervisory Responsibility There is no supervisory
responsibility. Knowledge and Skill Requirements Must be a previous
participant in NASCAR Hall of Fame Summer Camp program Experience
with kids - babysitting, supervising siblings, other camp
experiences, etc. Education and Experience Must enjoy working with
children of various ages Physical Demands Must be able to stand and
walk for up to 6 hours at a time Must be comfortable with and able
to climb and descend stairs Must be able to push carts up ramps
(weight of 40 -50 lbs.) Must be able to lift 35-40 lbs. Work
Environment The work environment can be fast-paced for 3-4 hours at
a time Requires ability to adapt to various age groups The noise
level may vary depending on the activity of the building Travel
Required There is no travel required To perform this job
