The Executive Director is responsible for the general oversight and growth of the Center for Private Business, which currently encompasses 180 member-companies, 8 sponsor-companies, and more than 50 individual volunteers. They lead the staff team across all statewide markets. They ensure strong financial sustainability through fundraising and membership growth efforts. They are also responsible for engaging volunteers and key partners as needed. Job Description

Essential Functions:

Major Tasks and Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the Center for Private Business staff, across all statewide markets.

• Leads fundraising and sponsorship efforts to secure needed funding via phone calls, one-on- one meetings and group recruitment efforts.

• Plans strategically for the Center’s future

• Creates and maintains a current financial budget of approximately $630k and a three-year

financial plan for the center.

• Recruits and retains Center members

• Speaks publically on behalf of the Center in order to increase awareness

• Manages student engagement efforts including sourcing adjunct professors, online course preparation and deployment.

• Manages a portfolio of approximately 30 active prospects and donors to Wake Forest University at any given time.

• Serve as functional leader of one of the following disciplines: Forum Program, Educational programming for members, Administrative Oversight

Other Functions:

• Manages key relationships both inside and outside of Wake Forest University which provide beneficial partnership opportunities

• Partners with other Universities in the area to create collaborative programming

• Plans for regional programming

• Manages volunteer committees and groups

• Maintains cohesive marketing materials and Center brand standards

• Serves as the liaison and manages relationships with contractors and vendors engaged in

maintaining office space and relations at 500 West 5th Street

• Responsible for all operational requirements of onboarding/exiting employees.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• Bachelor’s degree plus five or more years of experience.

• Knowledge of fundraising practices.

• Ability to travel statewide and regionally as required

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of

constituents in a diverse community.

• Ability to foster teamwork and cooperation in a work environment.

• Experience in database management and maintenance.

• Ability to supervise and train staff, volunteers, and student workers, including organizing,

prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments for these individuals/groups.

• Skill in fiscal management.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• Bachelor’s degree required

Accountabilities:

• Direct Reports Include: Regional Directors, Senior Associate Director of Membership, and

Assistant Director, Business Leader Forum Programs.

• Responsible for the creation and maintenance of annual budget.
