Job Description Twin County Regional HealthcarePrimary Function:
The C.N.A./Unit Secretary is responsible for manning the nursing
station, performing clerical and receptionist duties, and assists
nursing personnel in providing patient care. He/she is responsible
for requisitioning supplies, equipment, and services from other
departments. Qualifications: 1. Education and Experience: A. High
school graduate or GED equivalent required. CNA certificate
preferred, formal CNA training required. B. C. D. E. F.G. H. I. J.
K. Neat, legible handwriting and good telephone manners. Typing and
computer skills preferred. Ability to function in a high-stress
area. Communicates effectively verbally and in written form.
Maintains harmonious relationships with nursing personnel, medical
staff, hospital administration, and other hospital department
personnel. Problem-solves effectively and handles stress in a
positive manner. Demonstrates honesty and integrity. Familiarity
with organization and functions of each hospital department.
Ability to understand theory and practice in nursing. Works with
all age groups including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults
and geriatric patients.2.Responsibilities:A. Completion of work
assignments as delegated by the charge nurse in a safe and
effective time frame. B. Interacts in a positive, helpful manner
with patients, visitors, physicians, volunteers, and co-workers. C.
Keeps charge nurse appropriately informed of daily activities and
developments. D. Provides excellent customer service. E. F.G.H.
Ability to work with Paragon application (order management).
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks at nursing station (taking off
doctor orders, answering patient call lights, phone call, etc.).
Ability to take appropriate initiative to ensure assignments are
carried out according to hospital policies and procedures. Maintain
confidentiality of all patient, hospital, and physician related
information by following hospital rules.3. Physical Demands and
Working Conditions: A. Walking, standing, bending (45-90 angles)
and sitting for long periods of time are required within the unit.
B. Handling and lifting of supplies, records, books and reports are
essential. Requires assisting in lifting up to 300+ pounds (with
assistance) or turning patients, and assisting actively in patient
care. Must be able to transfer patients involving pushing
stretchers, wheelchairs, and beds containing patients and the
lifting of equipment and supplies. C. Hearing, talking, speaking
and writing of the English language and visual acuity are essential
in order to perform job duties. D. Exposure to blood, body fluids
and hazardous wastes is moderate to frequent, and must carry out
universal precautions according to hospital policy. E. Walking
intermittently through the halls of the hospital and outside to the
Materials Management Department. F. May be exposed to injury by
irrational or disturbed patients, patients with communicable
diseases, and/or potentially dangerous equipment. G. May require
stair climbing. H. May be exposed to bad weather when escorting a
discharged patient to their vehicle.Job Requirements See
