Methodist Home for Children, headquartered in Raleigh, is a
501(c)(3) that works to ensure safe, nurturing homes for children
while working to eradicate the social and family problems that lead
to abuse, neglect, family disruption and abandonment. We provide
community-based services for children and families throughout North
Carolina. We partner with public agencies to serve children in
crisis and we raise private funds to ensure that we can deliver the
best in evidence-based services.
We are seeking Overnight Awake Transitional Living Counselors
for our newest transitional living home in Winston-Salem, NC
FIRST THINGS FIRST... WHAT IS A TRANSITIONAL LIVING HOME?
These group homes serve teens who are on probation but cannot
safely return home after leaving a youth development center or
other residential placement. Referred by juvenile court counselors,
they stay for six to 12 months, working to finish school, identify
career goals, get a job, volunteer, earn a driver's license, and
learn to budget, cook and manage bills.
WHAT DOES THE OVERNIGHT AWAKE STAFF DO?
The Overnight Awake staff, under the direction of the Program
Manager, provide awake coverage of the Transitional Living Home
each night to assure the security, health, and safety of staff and
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS ARE NEEDED FOR THIS AMAZING JOB?
- Must be twenty-one (21) years of age;
- Minimum of a High School Diploma and experience working with
- Must maintain a valid Driver's License and an acceptable
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights,
weekends, holidays, and extended periods of time.
Paid Holidays: MHC gives full-time employees paid holidays each
Vacation Leave: First partial calendar year of hire is pro-rated
at 10 days (80 hours) per year
Sick Leave: Paid sick leave is accumulated at 12 days (96 hours)
per calendar year. All unused sick leave will carry over into the
next calendar year.
Health Benefits: Employees may choose between the Cigna
HealthCare Medical Base HSA Plan or Medical Buy-Up HSA Plan. Dental
and Vision plans are also available.
Health Care Flex Plan: Employees can utilize the optional Health
Care Flexible Spending Account (HSA) tax-free reimbursement program

themselves and their dependents.

Life Insurance: Term life insurance is provided by MHC for
full-time staff in the amount of 1x the employee's annual salary.
Supplemental life insurance is available for individual or family
Workers' Compensation: This agency-paid benefit covers
403B Plan: Employees can contribute to a tax-deferred annuity
plan; MHC matches a portion of the contributed funds.
Credit Union: All employees are offered membership to the
Coastal Credit Union (CCU).
