supervision, advises students on the study abroad process and
provides specialized services for Wake Forest University and
Affiliate study abroad programs.Job DescriptionEssential
Functions:
- Advises Wake Forest University undergraduates interested in
study abroad (Wake Forest- administered and Affiliate programs) on
an individual basis and in a group format.
- Implements study abroad policies and procedures that would
include: preparing materials, presenting in public forums, and
advising students on program selection, application process, course
registration, course approval, and academic transfer credit
requirements.
- Assists with all study abroad programming and events such as
pre-departure orientations, re-entry events, fairs, hosting campus
visitors, and Global Ambassador events.
- Administers and facilitates the application process for
students including related data maintenance.
- Communicates closely with affiliates on a variety of issues
such as study abroad outreach, including development of promotional
and marketing materials, dissemination of information, etc.
- Attends professional conferences and participates in study
abroad site visits as approved by the Director.Other Functions:
- Serves as a non-voting member of the Study Abroad Committee.
Responsible for preparing related materials as necessary.Required
Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree and one to two years of related experience in
education abroad, or an equivalent combination of education and
experience.
- Ability to quickly develop competency in WFU and Affiliate
study abroad program offerings.
- Exceptional organizational and customer service skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Personal initiative and ability to be flexible in work schedule
and assignments.
- Ability to work as a member of a team and under pressure.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and function in
a high volume/high traffic office setting.
- Proficiency with standard computing software applications
including Microsoft Windows, Internet, Email, Excel, Word, and
other relevant software.
- Proficiency in the use of standard office equipment (copier,
fax, etc.).
- Ability to meet requirements of the University's automobile
insurance.Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Master's degree and three to five years related experience in
education abroad, or equivalent combination of education and
experience.
- Experience living, working, or studying overseas.
- Experience working with college students, preferably in an
education abroad context.
- Experience using TerraDotta software for study abroad
offices.
- Proficiency in a foreign language.
- Experience developing marketing and promotional materials.
- Knowledge and experience with various social media
