law.DescriptionThere are over 12,500 residents living in long-term
care across the Piedmont Triad. You can make an impact by
advocating for residents and their families in long-term care
facilities. The Piedmont Triad Regional Council's (PTRC) Area
Agency on Aging is looking for an energetic, passionate,
detail-oriented Ombudsman to join our dynamic Aging team. PTRC is
the lead regional governmental organization for the 12 county
Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina. Advocating for residents
and their families in nursing and adult care facilities while
resolving concerns and complaints surrounding quality of patient
care, available services, as well as quality of life is an aspect
of work. Ability to utilize negotiation and mediation to resolve
issues referred from either the patient or the patient's family is
a priority for the person in this position. The ideal candidate for
the Regional Long Term Care Ombudsman is passionate in serving as
an advocate for long-term care residents and their families. The
ability to use tact and diplomacy in resolving complaints and
concerns, providing training, and responding to a variety of
inquiries is beneficial to this role. The Regional Long Term Care
Ombudsman will be aware of state and Federal regulations for
long-term care facilities as well as ability to successfully work
with individuals from diverse backgrounds and abilities.You will
use your superb oral and written communication skills to perform a
variety of support and training functions to the nursing home and
adult care home advisory committees within the 12 county region
since these committees provide technical support in the resolution
and investigation of complaints and concerns. Serving as a resource
to legislators, media, and health care professionals in the
interpretation of policies, procedures, rules, and regulations is a
requirement. Job posting will remain open until filled.
PM21POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The ideal candidate for the Regional
Long Term Care Ombudsman would have a graduate degree in
gerontology, social work, public health, or closely related field
with minimum of five (5) years' experience in long term care
services or mental health. A special requirement is certification
as a long-term care ombudsman by the State of North Carolina or
working toward certification within 6 months of employment.
Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, equipment, and
various computer products, including Microsoft programs, will be
essential in this role. Ability to resolve problem situations on
own accord and be resourceful in gathering and giving program
information in a diplomatic manner is required. If you are selected
to fill the role of Regional Long Term Care Ombudsman, you will
need to present a valid North Carolina Driver's License, pass the
pre-employment drug screen and background screening process.Travel
throughout the 12-county region is required. Other travel may be
required on occasion. All of our PTRC staff is required to complete
a six-month probationary employment period.ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:
