Are you an energetic, passionate individual with a love for aquatics and a desire to create a safe, fun environment in our aquatics center? The lifeguard is responsible for the safety of members and guests in the pool and surrounding area. The lifeguard is also responsible for enforcing pool rules, maintaining cleanliness of the pool by performing cleaning duties on the deck, checking chemicals and recording readings, practicing preventive lifeguarding, administering CPR/first aid and appropriate rescues when necessary, reporting incidents and securing the pool area upon closing. Lifeguards are responsible for building relationships with members and participant users by being friendly, waving and speaking briefly as they enter the pool, explaining rules as needed in a friendly and educational manner and working with the Y team to be consistent across all shifts.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• Lifeguard certification required from one of the following organizations: YMCA, American Red Cross or National Safety Council. No others will be accepted. Must be able to present certification cards.
• CPR, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen Certifications required.
• Ability to provide a high level of customer service to all parents and participants at all times
• Ability to work with children and adults
• Possess strong written and verbal communications and a sense of responsibility
• Energetic, devoted, mission driven, confident, respectful, adaptable, team oriented individual
• Punctual
• Speak in a professional manner to all members
• Ability to be a role model and demonstrate the YMCA character development traits
