Job Description Primary Purpose: The Data Loss Prevention Investigator role is responsible for investigating all DLP events and taking appropriate actions in accordance with all regulatory and legal compliance standards related to Privacy such as CCPA, HIPAA, GDPR, etc. The role is responsible for working with business units and individuals in order to ensure risks associated with data loss are properly mitigated and reporting metrics of actions to the Sr. Director of Information Privacy and Security Compliance as well as the CISO on an ongoing basis. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time. * Investigate all actionable Data Loss Prevention alert events and work with various business units to modify user behavior and or business practices in such a way that reduces the risk of data loss for National General * Works with Business leaders and other appropriate staff to ensure current business practices are functioning in such a way that adequately reduces the risk of data loss or data exposure to unauthorized individuals or groups * Investigate and report on events where individual workforce members are exposing National General information outside of normal operating procedures * Establish and report on metrics related to data loss and data exposure events to the Sr. Director of Privacy and Security Compliance and the CISO * Provide guidance to business units and individual workforce members to effect positive change in regards to risk reduction related to data loss and data exposure, thus ensuring National General maintains compliance with HIPAA, NY DFS, CCPA, and other regulatory requirements * Reviews alert events and work with DLP Analysts to reduce false positives and increase the efficiency of the Data Loss Prevention tools * Assists in recommending remediation activity for privacy compliance activities related to data loss and data exposure found deficient and evaluate remediation effectiveness upon completion * Attend industry privacy compliance related conferences and report trends, upcoming requirements, etc. to the Sr. Director of Privacy and Security Compliance and the CISO * Monitor changes in the regulatory and privacy landscape and report on the impact of those changes to the Sr. Director of Privacy and Security Compliance and the CISO Minimum Skills and Competencies: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * Bachelor Degree or in-lieu of degree equivalent education, training and work-related experience * 5+ years of experience as a Privacy Compliance professional or Privacy Compliance controls Auditor * 5+ years' of experience in an investigatory role and or quality improvement role * Expert knowledge of HIPAA, CCPA, or other Privacy regulations * CIPP Preferred * Excellent communication and writing skills with an acute attention to detail * Demonstrated detailed oriented self-starter and the ability to work independently with limited supervision and limited direction, and in collaborative team environments * A strong ability to multi-task and manage varying priorities and projects * Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to communicate security risk and compliance related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff * The ability to provide support after normal business hours as needed Desired Skills: * Master's Degree #LI-AB1 #LI-Remot National General Holdings Corp. is an Equal Opportunity (EO) employer - Veterans/Disabled and other protected categories.
