The quality technician reports to the Quality Manager at our flagship North American laminate facility. The position collaborates with production leaders and engineers to ensure top quality and performance of all Mohawk laminate flooring. RESPONSIBILITIES Follows all plant safety rules. Actively participates in plant safety improvement by regularly contributing "one point lessons"-- -. Participates in quality improvement initiatives. Works with others to improve methods and tools and to reduce defects in the plant. Participates in and occasionally leads Kaizen events. Serves as the main point of contact for the claims team. Reviews photos and reports for active claims and helps ensure the correct dispositions are made. Receives, unpacks and reviews claim samples several times a week to assist with dispositioning. Provides timely feedback to the claims team. Analyzes claims data on a regular basis and summarizes information for plant personnel. Creates postings for SQDC boards and provides samples. Keeps plant focused on improving the most significant customer issues. Performs pre-shipping inspections in the warehouse for product that is shipping out to replace defective material. Communicates results quickly and clearly. Oversees the quality of our laminate outsourcing process. Receives, inspects and logs inspections of shipments. Reports findings to management in a timely manner. Ensures quality issues are corrected by the outsourcing supplier. Supports plant quality by assisting with audits, documentation and other tasks assigned by the Quality Manager. Required: Excellent Excel skills. Thorough understanding of spreadsheet techniques, charting, report creation, etc. Ability to quickly analyze data and provide useful summaries. Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal form. Very good general computer skills including Word and Outlook. Preferred: Proficiency in Access and Powerpoint.
