Scholle IPN is a global packaging company, manufacturing flexible packaging materials for a variety of industries. What We Do
We engineer flexible packaging solutions that reduce waste and prolong shelf life for many different markets. Our products are made around the globe-not so we can produce cheaper elsewhere, but to effectively serve and produce right in the markets where we operate.
We are currently hiring for a Maintenance Technician for our Chilhowie, Virginia facility! Maintenance Technicians support day-to-day operations of all machines, equipment, and areas of the facility. They also perform preventive maintenance, provide technical assistance for solving reliability issues, assist with production equipment upgrades and rebuilds, and fabricate, modify, assemble and repair a variety of production components/assemblies/systems utilizing various machining and metal fabricating equipment and tools.
Key Duties and Responsibilities


  • Ensures strict conformance to all applicable electrical codes & OSHA safety requirements for facility and production equipment, as well as Scholle IPN safety guidelines
  • Provides mechanical and electrical skills in support of routine & preventive maintenance
  • Supports the shift maintenance team in problem-solving & troubleshooting efforts
  • Acts as a problem solving & continuous improvement resource for PLC programming, variable speed drives, electrical & pneumatic controls, mechanical systems, etc.
  • Troubleshoots & repairs production machine equipment and systems
  • Provides input to preventive & predictive maintenance efforts to improve overall equipment reliability
  • Effectively maintains maintenance laptop programs & files
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain Cognex vision system
  • Effectively make electrical connections for most electrical devices
  • Successfully transfers electronic files from laptop to motor drives, Fanuc robotics, PLC, and/or HMI
  • Effectively troubleshoot industrial equipment utilizing laptop viewing PLC ladder logic
  • Capable of interpreting electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, & mechanical schematics for troubleshooting
  • Effectively troubleshoot all industrial systems, such as electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, & mechanical
  • Effectively utilizes electronic test equipment in troubleshooting, such as a Multimeter, Oscilloscope, megger, circuit tracer, etc.
  • Provides support for departmental standards for sanitation & housekeeping
  • Supports the introduction of new technology
  • Displays strong teamwork & communication skills with a hands-on, positive style
  • Contributes ideas & support to capital planning, lean manufacturing, & continuous improvement initiatives
  • Responsible for reporting food/product safety problems or risks to a supervisor or manager immediately, or act if possible
  • Other duties as assigned
    Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or GED, AAS in Electronics or equivalent preferred
    • Certificate in Industrial Maintenance or Military equivalent
    • Broad experience with most or all of the following required: electrical & mechanical systems, PLCs, pneumatic conveying systems & controls, HVAC, air compressors, profile extrusion, assembly equipment, film unwinds, & injection molding
    • Five (5) years of Industrial Maintenance experience preferred
    • AAS in Electronics or equivalent preferred.
    • PLC programming experience is a plus.
    • Experience with a computerized Maintenance Management system, such as MP2, would be beneficial
    • Ability to work all shifts and perform overtime
    • Previous experience as a maintenance technician preferred
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and PowerPoint presentations. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units or measures, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and interpret bar graphs. Ability to calculate mean, median, and mode, and apply SPC to the quality processes
    • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
    • Basic skill knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel, and Virtual Client to perform effectively in daily activities
    • Ability to perform visual inspection process and successfully read and apply technical material including print specifications
    • Ability to solve problems by identifying root causes and developing alternative solutions.
    • Injection Molding Experience a plus
