The Maintenance Tooling Associate is primarily responsible for
preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of all injection
and extrusion tooling. The tooling associate is responsible for the
repair, reconditioning and fabrication of all custom parts utilized
on the bag making equipment. This position will support continuous
improvement activities through the development and fabrication of
components to improve safety, process reliability or eliminate
scrap. Technical Manager will fulfill the responsibilities of this
role when vacant.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Adhere to company safety policies and good housekeeping
practices.
Maintain all injection and extrusion tooling through preventive
maintenance and/or improvements
Troubleshoot and repair hot runner manifolds for injection
tooling
Repair, recondition and fabricate components for the ABMs or other
equipment with the highest quality of craftsmanship possible.
Support all departments through the development and fabrication of
components to improve safety, improve the process or reduce
scrap.
Work closely with Tool Crib attendant to ensure all stock levels of
components processed by the Tooling Tech/Machinist are maintained
at levels necessary to protect the customer.
Contributes ideas and support to capital planning, lean
manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
Ensure that personal tools and equipment are in proper condition
and report all damaged or lost equipment to the Maintenance
Supervisor as soon as possible. Lost or damage of any shop tools or
equipment should also be reported.
Use the EAM work order system as the primary task list to make the
most of the available time. Prioritize the work according to
production needs and/or strategic reasons.
Complete all necessary paperwork including work order forms,
checklists, material/parts requisitions, etc.
Strive for excellent communication within the department and
throughout the plant
Ensure there is no information lost during discussions at shift
change. Always inform relief of all relevant matters, no matter how
small
Work safely and ensure that crew works safely. This includes
following all personal and product safety rules, practicing good
housekeeping, detecting and correcting unsafe conditions, and being
proactive to prevent future safety concerns
Responsibility to report food/product safety problems or risks to a
supervisor or manager immediately or take action if possible
Job Qualifications and/or Skills:
High school diploma or G.E.D required
Ability to work all shifts and perform overtime
Future training and/or education may be necessary to further job
skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules,
operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and
PowerPoint presentations. Ability to write routine reports and
correspondence
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units or
measures, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and interpret bar
graphs. Ability to calculate mean, median, and mode
Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or
diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several
concrete variables in standardized situations
Basic skill knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Word and
Excel, to perform effectively in daily activities
Ability to perform visual inspection process and successfully read
and apply technical material including print specifications
Certifications & Licenses:
Broad experience with most or all of the following required:
electrical & mechanical systems, PLCs, pneumatic conveying systems
& controls, HVAC, air compressors, profile extrusion, assembly
equipment, film unwinds, & injection molding
Five (5) years of Industrial Maintenance experience preferred
Certificate in Industrial Maintenance or Military equivalent
AAS in Electronics or equivalent is preferred
PLC programming experience is a plus
Experience with a computerized Maintenance Management system, such
as MP2, would be beneficial
